How to Import Contacts using the Default CSV importer

To import contacts to Nimble:

  1. Export your list of contacts from your current Contact Manager or CRM system into a text or CSV file.
  2. Modify that text or CSV file to match the Nimble default CSV format
  3. Sign in to Nimble.
  4. Click the Contacts tab (located at the top left of the screen) on any Nimble page.
  5. From the Import dropdown menu, select Upload Default CSV file.
  6. Click the Choose File button and locate the CSV file you'd like to upload.
  7. Select the file and click the Import button. 

Once you've successfully uploaded the document, Nimble will start processing the import and an email notification will be sent to you once the import is completed.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • If some entries aren't included in your Contacts list, Nimble tells you why these entries were left out.
  • If you receive error messages when attempting to import your contacts, you may need to edit your CSV file (click here to see the Nimble default CSV format)
  • CSV imports are limited to 50,000 contacts at a time. 
  • Social network imports are limited to 10,000 contacts at a time. (If you have more than 10,000 Google Contacts, export your contacts to a vCard file and import to Nimble as a vCard at the Networks & Imports page)

About the background field:

  • NImble doesn't support rich text formatting, or unlimited length in the “background” field. When we are unable to import a certain field from the CSV, we do our best to let you know so that you can fix it manually.
  • The maximum size for the "background" field is 5,000 characters. If the text exceeds this size, the "background" field might be truncated.
