The Microsoft Teams app provides business teams that are subscribed to Microsoft 365 with a space to connect in conversation (much like many teams do with apps such as Slack), as well as collaborate on projects together by integrating with all of Microsoft’s apps (such as Microsoft suite, Power BI, SharePoint, and more), in one cohesive, cloud-based environment.
In addition to integrating with Microsoft’s own apps, Teams allows for integrations with many third parties -- including Nimble. The Nimble Teams Add-in is very similar to the Smart Contacts Add-in created for your Microsoft 365 mailbox; it enables you to look up your existing Nimble contacts and take action from within your Teams workspace, as well as add brand new contacts to Nimble.
The Nimble Teams Add-in will come in handy for a variety of workflows, such as when a client’s name comes up in conversation with your team and you need to take a quick look at their Nimble record, or would like to add them to your Nimble account database. With the Add-in, you will be able to do this without switching tabs in your browser.
To install the Nimble Teams Add-in to your instance of Microsoft Teams, visit the “Teams” tab and select the triple dot icon next to the channel you will be using. Select “Manage Teams” > “Apps” > “Go To Store” and search for “Nimble” on the upper lefthand corner of the page. Finally, select “Nimble Contacts”, and then select any necessary settings before clicking the installation button, and lastly selecting “Set Up” next to the “Bot” option. You will receive a notification when the installation is complete.
You’ll need to log into your Nimble account next, and you can do this by pinning Nimble Contacts to your tabs across the top of the chat window. Select the “+” icon, and then “Nimble Contacts” followed by “Save” in the following popup.
When you visit the tab, you’ll be prompted to log into your Nimble account.
Now that Nimble has been added to Microsoft Teams, you’ll be able to use it within your chat space with your colleagues to start looking for contacts! To begin, simply mention the Add-in by starting to type “@Nimble Contacts”, and the Add-in will populate as an option to select. The Add-in does have a few rules regarding the types of commands you can give it:
To search for contacts, start your query with the word "Find"
An example of this could be “@Nimble Contacts find Jon Ferrara”
Specify at least the person or company’s name, email, or company domain in the query
Use "Find people" or "Find company" to narrow down a search to only people or companies
Add "from <company name>" or "from <domain>" to only search for contacts belonging to a specific company
Select “Open in Tab”, and you will be brought to your Nimble Contacts Tab, with a widget identical to the one you would see when viewing an email thread in your Outlook or Microsoft 365 mailbox!
You’ll be able to view all of the information you have on this contact from your Nimble account, as well as their related company details, and even take action on that contact from within Microsoft Teams. In addition to contact info, you’ll be able to view message history, social streams, and any notes, tasks, calendar events, and deals related to the contact.
Under the three dots icon:
Edit: Make changes to the contact info on file for the contact in Nimble.
See All Contact Data: See all information that has been submitted about this contact to Nimble’s default “Contact Info” fields, as well as any custom fields you may have set up.
Request Live Profile: See the insights Nimble is able to gather on the contact on its own!
Add/Modify Tags: Make changes to the tags applied to this contact.
Delete: Delete the contact, if needed.
Under the plus sign icon, you may add notes, tasks, deals, or calendar events related to this contact.
By selecting the phone icon, you may use your browser’s default “Tel:” URL handler to dial directly out to the contact!
The stopwatch icon enables you to set a Stay in Touch reminder for this person or company in your Nimble account.
Lastly, the star icon marks the contact as important or no longer important, as necessary.
If you ask the Nimble Add-in for Microsoft Teams to find a contact that does not exist in your Nimble account, it will search various databases to try and locate the contact you are looking for, granting you the ability to add them to your Nimble Database!
When you select the option to “Open in Tab”, you will be able to view the potential new contact’s Live Profile to determine using the insights Nimble is able to find whether you would like to add them to your account, selecting the option to “Add to Contacts” if so!
We will be introducing more functionality to make the Nimble Teams Add-in even smarter in future updates! For now, if you’d like to take an action on a contact that is not currently available within the Add-in (such as sending a message from your Microsoft Teams tab in your browser), you may do so with the Nimble Prospector browser extension widget!
With the browser widget open, simply highlight your contact’s name within your team’s chat, and Nimble will pull up their contact record in your database, just as it does on any social network, company website, or anywhere else you work on the web.
