CSV import is now smarter than ever - Nimble automatically matches your fields behind the scenes, making the import process a breeze.

The same magic works for Nimble webforms! Just turn on automatic contact creation, and Nimble takes care of the field matching, giving you more time to focus on what really matters.

Nimble’s new shared contacts mapping feature powers it all.

Let's see how it works!

*** Before diving in, take a moment to explore our support guides on Nimble web forms, CSV import and custom data fields:

Table of Contents:

Getting Started with Shared Contacts Mapping

To get started, head to Settings >> Data Fields, then click on Field Name Mapping.

You’ll see Nimble’s contact fields on the left and the aliases (field name variations) it recognizes on the right.

You can add your own aliases to align with your field naming conventions so future imports and submissions map correctly. For this, just click the desired row you wish to update and then  Add one more name at the top from the left.

To remove an alias you created, click the trash bin icon and confirm the action.

Note: aliases set by default cannot be deleted.

At the top of the page you'll see Add/Search field button:

Click it to add custom fields rows and update the field name mapping as needed.

*** Learn more about custom data fields in our support guide: Nimble Custom Data Fields.

You can remove added mapping rows at any time by selecting the specific row and clicking the Delete Mapping Row button:

Using Shared Contacts Mapping with CSV Imports

Once you’ve customized your shared contacts mapping, you’re ready to start the import and make full use of it. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit Settings >> Import contacts tab.

  2. Click CSV button from the top to initiate import.

After uploading your file, Nimble will automatically map your fields for you.

Using Shared Contacts Mapping with Web Forms

This works just as easily for creating contacts from Nimble web forms!

First, make sure the necessary fields are added to the shared contacts mapping list. Then take the next steps:

  1. Go to Inbound > Webforms.

  2. Open your web form, click Edit, and go to Form Settings.

  3. Under After Submit Actions, turn on Create Contacts on Form Submission.

Nimble will then automatically map the fields for you:

Why Shared Contacts Mapping Matters

Before, you had to manually map fields when importing CSVs or creating contacts from web forms. Now, with the automatic mapping feature, Nimble does it for you.

Here's how you benefit from the feature:

  • Save time – No more manual mapping.

  • Avoid errors – Fields are matched correctly every time.

  • Work faster – Imports and forms happen smoothly.

  • Stay organized – Your contacts stay consistent.

With Nimble's new shared contacts mapping, managing your contacts has never been easier!
