From important conversations and preferences to valuable insights and follow-up details, your contact notes tell the story behind every connection. And keeping that information organized and accessible should be easy!
That's why Nimble now makes it possible to import and export contact notes directly from your account. Whether you're switching from another CRM, bringing existing notes into Nimble, or saving a copy of your records, you can manage your notes in bulk without the hassle of handling them one by one.

How to Import Contact Notes into Nimble
Have notes stored in another CRM or spreadsheet? You can bring them into Nimble in bulk and associate them with the corresponding contact records.
To import your contact notes take the following steps:
Scroll to the Import Notes section.
Drag and drop your CSV file or click Choose from computer to upload it.
If your file contains column headers, leave the First row contains column names checked. This option is enabled by default.
Review the field mapping and adjust it if needed.
Check the Data Preview to make sure the text displays correctly. If it appears as unreadable characters, select a different Encoding from the dropdown menu.
Click Review to see a summary of your notes before importing them.
Click Import to complete the process.
Note: UTF-8-SIG is selected by default. If the text in the Data Preview appears with unreadable characters, try selecting a different encoding from the dropdown menu until the text displays correctly.
Nimble uses the contact information in your file to match imported notes with the corresponding contacts. Once imported, the notes will appear directly on their contact records in Nimble.
Preparing Your CSV Import File
To help Nimble identify the correct contacts and import your notes, your CSV file needs just two required columns:
Contact — who the note is about: an email address, full name, or Nimble Contact ID.
Note Text — the content of your note, in HTML or plain text.
Tip: Want to associate the same note with multiple contacts? Simply separate their contact details with a semicolon (;) in the Contact column.
You can also include optional columns to add more details or preserve existing note information:
Title — a short heading for the note.
Created, Updated — when the note was written and last changed.
Author — the email address of the teammate who wrote it.
Format — html or plain.
Note ID — the ID of an existing note to update instead of creating a new one.
Note: Once your file is ready, save it in CSV format using a comma (,) as the delimiter.
A few helpful things to know:
If you leave the Created or Updated fields empty, Nimble will use today's date.
If the Author field contains an email address that doesn't belong to your Nimble team, the note will be assigned to you.
To update an existing note rather than create a new one, include its Note ID in your CSV file.
