Nimble Tags Overview

Learn how to organize contacts into lists via tags.

Nimble's Tag feature enables you to quickly group your contacts. Tags can be applied upon import for swift organization or within the app either in the Contacts tab or on an individual contact record. They can also be applied to activities.

In your Contacts tab, tags will appear to the left in alphabetical order:

Applying Tags in Bulk To Contacts

If you are planning to bulk upload your contacts to Nimble, then applying a tag upon import is a surefire way to start off on a good foot. Tags can be easily applied upon import and can be applied from any importer in Settings >> Networks & Imports. They can also be added to a CSV import!

To upload in a CSV import, just take the following steps:

1. Create tag columns and label them as Tag 1, Tag 2, etc. in your CSV file, then map the columns as tags using our CSV Import Wizard


2. To apply one or more tags to all of the contacts in your CSV file, during Step 3 of our Import Wizard, you may enter as many tags as you like to the "Edit Tags" field! If you are applying more than one tag, be sure to separate them with commas.

You can also click on any of the suggestions we provide based on the name of the file, your name, and the date, to automatically add them as tags for your import.


Applying Tags to a contact list

Tags can also just as easily be applied to a group of contacts from within Nimble. Just locate the group of contacts you would like to tag and take these steps:

  1. Select the contacts/company that you want to tag

  2. Click on the tag icon

  3. Click "Add" to save. 


Applying Tags to an individual contact record

To apply a tag to an individual contact, just visit their record. Once there, locate the Tag section and click "Edit Tags".

You can add tags separated by a comma. When you are ready click "Save.


Deleting or renaming a tag

To delete a tag from a contact, just click "Edit Tags" and then select the "X" next to the tag you wish to delete.


To delete or rename a tag from the Tag list, visit your Contacts tab and hover over the tag you wish to delete or rename. Click on the pencil to rename it or the trashcan icon to delete it.


Merging duplicate Tags

If you discover that you have tags with similar names or contacts that should appear under a different tag, then you can always merge the tags.

To do this, select the tags that need to be merged, then click "Modify". You can now Merge the selected tags or delete them in bulk. You can also make changes to the tag name.

If you choose to merge the tags, you will be able to set the Primary Tag name.

When finished, click "Finalize Modifying". All contacts will appear under the Primary Tag name.


Filter Tag Search

Tags can also be filtered to display All or Any Tags.

When you select "All tags", then contacts must match all of the selected tags to appear in the search results.

When you select "Any tags" then contacts can match any of the selected tags to appear in the search results.


Applying Tags to Tasks

Aside from tagging your contacts, you can also tag your activities.

Go to your Activities tab and click on New Activity and then Task. Create or enter a tag name in the Add tags field. Separate your tags with commas to make multiple tags for this task.

You can filter your Agenda page by tags using the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the Activities tab.

In the Tasks page of the Activities tab, tags for tasks you have created will appear in a cloud that looks similar to the one in the Contacts tab.
