With Nimble's Bulk Editing, you can quickly and easily modify both standard and custom fields across numerous records, saving valuable time on data entry and keeping your database clean and up-to-date with minimal effort. It is ideal for both teams and individual users in any industry.

Getting Started

To begin modifying your contacts, visit the Contacts tab. You'll have the option to select any contacts you want to make changes to. These contacts may be in a tagged group, saved segment, or any of the available lists, making it easy to access them for bulk editing.

Once you have selected the desired contacts, a new option called "Bulk Edit" will appear at the top. You can click on "Bulk Edit" to access a range of edit options to apply changes to multiple contacts at once.

Initiate bulk editing by selecting the field you wish to edit. Then, choose either:

  • "Set Value If Empty" to populate an empty field

  • "Add/Set Value" to assign a new value or overwrite any existing value

  • "Replace Value" works as a find-and-replace option. Allowing you to locate an existing value and replace it with new data

  • "Set Primary Value" allows you to designate a main or preferred value for a specific field in your contact data

  • "Remove All Values" will remove all data in the selected populated field

  • "Remove Value" enables you to remove a particular value by entering the existing value to match

How to Set Value If Empty

Set Value If Empty allows you to populate an empty field for the selected contacts.

To get started, select the field you wish to edit then under Selection Action, choose Set Value If Empty. "Details" will appear and you can enter the new value to populate the empty field.

Please note: If there is data in that field, Nimble will not replace the existing data and you'll need to use either Add/Set Value or Replace Value.

How to Add/Set Value

Add/Set Value allows you to assign a new value or overwrite any existing value in a contact or company field.

To get started, select the field you wish to edit then under Select Action, choose "Add/Set Value. "Details" will appear and you can enter the new Value.

For instance, if your business operates in Marketing and tracks customer communication channels, you might want to update the communication method field with the primary channel preferred by each contact.

This can help streamline communication efforts and ensure a more targeted approach based on customer preferences.

You can create a custom field within Settings >> Data Fields.

How to Replace Value

Replace Value allows you to find and replace an existing value and replace it with new data. This makes it easy to perform seamless updates to your contact and company records.

To get started, select the field you wish to edit then under Select Action, choose "Replace Value. "Details" will appear and you can enter the Existing Value and the New Value.

For instance, if your business operates in Recruiting and tracks the source of applications, you may want to update this field if new information is discovered or changes occur.

Correct Data Entry

Additionally, with the Replace Value feature, you can correct data entry.

For example, if team members are entering data inconsistently, such as using different terms for the same value, you can use 'Bulk Editing' to standardize the data. If you prefer the value under 'Identity Checked' to read "True" instead of "Confirmed," you can quickly make this adjustment for multiple contacts using 'Bulk Editing.'

How to Set Primary Value

Set Primary Value allows you to designate a main or preferred value for a specific field in your contact data. In Nimble, you can have multi-value fields, and there may be times when you need to set the primary field for multiple contacts at once rather than individually. Use "Set Primary Value" to accomplish this efficiently.

When selecting Set Primary Value, you'll see these options:

  • Only when single value: Marks the field value as primary only if there is a single value for the selected field

  • First value: Sets the first value as primary, regardless of how many values exist

  • Matched value: Allows you to specify a value to search for and set as primary

For instance, if you are tracking your customers' hobbies using Custom Fields, you might want to designate their primary hobby. This can be done in bulk using Matched Value or any of the set value options.

How To Remove All Values

Remove All Values will remove all data in the selected populated field. To get started, select a group of contacts then choose "Bulk Edit". Select the field you wish to edit and under Select Action, choose "Remove All Values". This allows you to start fresh with no data in the field.

Then choose Apply Changes.

How to Remove a Value

Remove Value allows you to delete a specific value from a field by entering the exact value you wish to remove. This is particularly useful when you need to clean up data by eliminating outdated or incorrect information from multiple records simultaneously, ensuring your database remains accurate and up-to-date.

Multiple Bulk Edition Actions

Multiple Bulk Edit Actions allow users to perform a range of actions on multiple contacts simultaneously, streamlining the data management process and saving time.

This option enables you to update or add for various data fields in bulk, ensuring data consistency and accuracy across a contact list.

Reset Form

Nimble automatically saves the bulk edit fields you've chosen, allowing you to efficiently apply these changes to other contacts as needed. If you ever need to revert back to the original form, simply select 'Reset Form' to undo any bulk editing changes.
