How to Create an AI Sequence

Creating an AI sequence takes just a few clicks:

  1. From the Outbound tab, open Email Sequences and click New Sequence.

  2. Write your prompt (* or start with one of the ready-made example prompts, making any edits you’d like).

  3. Describe the sequence you want in the prompt box — the outcome, who it’s for, and any human touches you’d like included — then click Generate Sequence.

  4. Review the draft. Nimble lays out every step — emails, tasks, delays, and exit conditions — with personalization placeholders shown so you can see exactly what each contact will receive.

  5. Adjust anything you like — reword a message, change a delay, add or remove a step — then Publish from the top-right corner. Nothing sends until you publish.

Once it’s published, add people to it the same way you would any sequence — see Add Contacts to Your Email Sequence. You can monitor your sequence's performance at any time with Email Sequence Reports.

Other Ways to Create AI Sequences:

You don't have to create every sequence from scratch! Nimble offers several options to help you get started:

  • Explore AI Prompts: Choose from suggested prompts or save your own prompts as templates to reuse them in future sequences.

  • Use Sequence Templates: Browse pre-built sequences organized by categories such as Marketing, Sales, E-commerce, and more. Select a template that fits your goals and customize it to your needs.

  • Create a Blank Sequence: Prefer to build your sequence yourself? Start with a blank sequence and add your own messages and steps.

How to Write an Effective AI Sequence Prompt

The more details you include in your prompt, the better Nimble can tailor the generated sequence to your needs. To help you get started, Nimble provides built-in Good prompt tips right above the prompt box, highlighting the key details to consider when describing your sequence.

Here are a few best practices:

  • Name the audience and the goal. Say who the sequence is for and what a win looks like — a booked call, a reply, a signed proposal.

  • Say how many touches, over how long. “Five touches over two weeks” gives Nimble a cadence to work with.

  • Ask for the human moves, not just emails. Call out a call, a text, or a LinkedIn comment where you want one, and Nimble will schedule it as a task between the automated sends.

  • Set the exit. Tell Nimble when someone should stop — they reply, they book, they’re clearly not interested.

  • Steer the tone. Warm, direct, professional — Nimble already knows your voice from AI Context, but you can nudge it per sequence.

  • Review the personalization. Check that the merge fields resolve to the right contact details before you publish.

  • Fine-tune the timing. Adjust the delays between steps so the follow-up feels paced, not pushy.

Tip: Fill in your AI Context first — it only takes a few minutes to set up, and every sequence you generate afterward will already sound like you and know your business.

Manage Your AI Sequence

You can edit any step before you publish. You can also update a sequence after it’s live. Just open the sequence and hit Edit from the top right corner to make changes to any step.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Edits apply to future contacts. After a sequence is live, changes you make affect contacts who enter the sequence afterward, not those already partway through it.

  • Pause stops new enrollments. Pausing prevents new contacts from entering the sequence while contacts already enrolled continue moving through it.

  • Archive when the goal is met. Archiving preserves the sequence for reference and prevents new contacts from being added.

  • Update Sender changes who it sends from. This can be useful when responsibility for a sequence shifts to another teammate.

Important Things to Know

A few important details to set expectations:

  • A LinkedIn step is a task, not a send. Nimble hands you the context; you still send it from LinkedIn — AI Sequences doesn’t send LinkedIn messages or place calls for you.

  • Confirm workflow and stage suggestions. The AI proposes where a contact should move; check it matches your intended automation before you publish.

  • Generated tasks are tracked. They appear on the Contact Profile and in your task list (filterable by sequence), alongside the work you did by hand.

  • Team Context is free-text today. Anyone on the team can edit it — agree who owns it before the team relies on it.

  • Setup reads your website, not your LinkedIn. Review the draft context and correct anything that’s off.
