A healthy sender reputation is essential for ensuring your emails reach inboxes, engage your audience, and protect your brand. Maintaining it while running email marketing campaigns leads to higher deliverability, fewer spam issues, and better results from every message you send.

Nimble Email Marketing provides all the necessary resources, including the basics with proper DKIM and SPF, to help you get started. However, maintaining a strong sender reputation also depends on following best practices. Below are the key steps to keep your sender reputation healthy, reach your audience effectively, and make your email marketing campaigns successful:

  • Start Small with New Domains: begin by sending your campaigns to small batches of 20–100 reliable recipients. Gradually increase volume over time to maintain deliverability and establish trust with email providers, as new domains are in the process of gaining their reputation.

  • Focus on Engagement: Start your campaigns by emailing recipients most likely to open and engage with your messages. Use Nimble’s email templates to create high-quality, relevant content, and personalize your emails with merge tags to make each message feel tailored to the recipient. This helps keep your audience interested and responsive.

  • Keep Your Email List Healthy: Remove invalid or non-existent email addresses before sending messages. With Nimble’s Email Lists maintaining clean and valid contact lists is simple. Nimble Double Opt-in helps you ensure that every subscriber on your email list is genuinely interested in receiving your messages by having them confirm their subscription.

  • Track Delivery and Bounces: Avoid sending large volumes to unengaged or high-risk contacts, and use Nimble’s Email Lists to quickly check the status of your recipients’ email addresses. Monitor bounces to protect your sender reputation. In Nimble, bounced email addresses are automatically added to the Do Not Mail List, so never re-subscribe them.

  • Manage Unsubscribes Effectively: Include an unsubscribe link in every email - Nimble will alert you if it’s missing. To give subscribers even more control, take advantage of Nimble’s category-based unsubscribes feature and include a manage preferences link in your messages. • Analyze messages statisicts: Regularly monitor how recipients interact with your emails. Nimble provides detailed stats on opens and clicks for both group messages and email sequences, helping you identify engagement trends and adjust your content, timing, or targeting to improve results.

  • Act on Feedback: If recipients rarely open or click your emails, consider reducing sending frequency or removing them from active lists to maintain engagement. If you notice spam complaints or delivery errors, review your content and targeting carefully to prevent future issues.

Implementing these best practices helps your emails land in inboxes consistently while protecting your sender reputation.
